Man needs to spend time in some healthy and interesting activity. In this world there are a lot of ways for better time spending. People have more chances to go out and there are many places to walk and spend some time for recreation. But in the beginning when life was so simple and people do not have to do much for their living. They just had to hunt animals or grow vegetation for their living. About 2500 BC it is thought that people were use to swim for the recreation. They swim in less deeper parts of the rivers or in canals. But with the passage of time people use to build swimming pools for them. There were no records of special costumes worn by swimmer.
Importance of pools in different civilizations
Archeologists report that swimming pools were found in Egypt, Greece and in Rome. They also reported that Rome and Greece were very developed society and they included swimming in their curriculum of elementary schools. They did not wear swimming costumes for bathing. The Roman civilization had also built public swimming pools. The lord of Roma named as Gaius Maecenas ordered to make swimming pool of hot water.
Plato who was a great philosopher of his age was declared that for the proper education one should learn swimming. Phoenicians, Assyrians and Babylonian civilizations also have evidence for the swimming. It is thought that there were swimming competitions held in Japan for about 2000 years before.
Modern facts about swimming
During 18th century this activity became most popular among the people and as a result of which swim clubs were made in the England. It is because swimming in sea is more dangerous and less people can take part in it. Only highly skillful persons can handle such kinds of competition and are more costly to manage.
